Greed

He ran the rat race with a will to succeed,
He looked around and thought he was in the lead,
He was in a race against himself, that he failed to concede,
As he ran, some distance ahead, he met his need,
He ran a little further, but far away his eye caught greed,
Don't run after greed, the wise did plead,
To the words of the wise he paid no heed,
He ran ahead and wished himself godspeed,
But as he ran, the greed seemed to recede,
He ran as fast as he could, at full speed,
Yet the faster he ran more the gap increased,
A long time he tried, but yet he could not succeed,
Tired he stopped, looked behind, his need he did far exceed,
In this futile never ending chase he had lost much indeed,
But who is to blame, coz a man must pay for his deed,
Filled with remorse, on the path of correction he did proceed,
He regretted that in his heart he sowed this seed,
That blossomed into something which would only mislead,
But now he realised and killed this weed,
From the grasp of greed himself he freed,
He got what the wise said, only after he himself did bleed,
But he had learnt his lesson that was guaranteed,
Not to go down that road again he agreed,
Life is beautiful, only if greed you can impede.

  3. Always be thankful with what you have, and always listen to what your heart says, as our mind is always full with never ending greed. Very nice poem.
