Hate is a Monster

Hate is ravaging monster, All in its path it surely does devour, Where it is, might not concern you today, But it’s coming, that’s needless to say. It burns a distant land, why must we fret? Because tomorrow it’ll be at your doorstep, Today it consumes a stranger at world’s end, Tomorrow it could be your family or friend. Stop, is a word this monster hasn’t known, No mercy to its victims has it ever shown, Women, children, men young and old, Oh! How many times the story’s been retold. Jealousy and greed in the hearts of men, Feeds the monster, to repeat the story again, Like a raging wild fire in a dry forest, Until it has consumed all, it will not rest. Mindless wars waged here and there, Alas, death and destruction, everywhere, Can we stand together and do something? Or will we succumb to this nasty evil thing? Kindness and love are against it a shield, Powers, which each one of us can wield, To unite against this monster we must vow, Before it’s too late, we must act right here righ...

  “I have something important to share with you all,” said Jonathan to his family at the dinner table. “What is it, dad?” asked his daughter. “I have had a calling,” he replied. “Calling?” enquired Mary, his wife. “Long ago, my parents left the village and went to live on top of Mount Salus. I think it’s time for us to go too,” explained Jonathan. “You mean leave our home?” asked his son, Peter. “Yes, that is what I mean,” clarified Jonathan. There was pin drop silence at the table as they stopped eating. Mary sensed the bewilderment. “We will talk about this after dinner, ok?” “Sure,” agreed Jonathan. “Let’s eat now.” The children finished what they had in their plates and went to their room.   Later that night, after clearing the table, Mary went to her room.
